An exciting opportunity for a talented statistician interested in applied medical research to work with Dr Brian Tom at the internationally-renowned MRC Biostatistics Unit at the University of Cambridge.
As part of its commitment to Stratified Medicine and involvement in the Gaucherite Consortium, the Unit is seeking to appoint a research statistician with experience in Biostatistics to take the lead in analysing data collected from the most extensively phenotyped cohort of Gaucher patients in the UK. The Gaucherite Consortium was funded through the MRC Stratified Medicine Initiative and aims to identify predictive measures which can be used to stratify clinical outcomes in children and adults with Gaucher disease and response to specific therapies.
The post holder is expected to have a PhD in statistics or MSc in statistics with a number of years experience in applied medical research. They should have experience in regression modelling for longitudinal and time-to-event (survival) data. The post is up to one year and will involve interaction with the members of the Gaucherite Consortium. The post holder must have good communication skills and be able to contribute substantially to the writing of scientific papers.
The MRC Biostatistics Unit aims to advance medical science by the development, application and dissemination of statistical methods. It is one of Europe's leading biostatistics research institutions and includes many internationally renowned statisticians. It provides a privileged environment for conducting research within the Cambridge biomedical environment.
