Tenure-track assistant professor position in Probability and Mathematical Statistics in the Laboratory of Applied Mathematics of the Department of Civil, Environmental and Mechanical Engineering at the University of Trento in Italy
Requisites: In order to apply for the position, the candidates must have a PhD degree and at least 3 years of post-doc experience. Knowledge of the Italian language is not required at the time of application.
The group: The research group of the Laboratory of Applied Mathematics at the University of Trento currently consists of the following faculty staff: Prof. emeritus Eleuterio F. Toro, Prof. Vincenzo Casulli, Prof. Michael Dumbser and Dr. Ilya Peshkov. The laboratory is looking for a new young, talented and highly motivated researcher from the area of probability and mathematical statistics to join the group. The new researcher should be open for collaborations with other areas present in the Department, such as numerical analysis, mathematical physics as well as fluid and solid mechanics.
Conditions: The assistant professor position starts with a contract for three years, with a teaching load of 90 hours per year. During these three years, the candidate needs to get the Italian habilitation for associate professor level in probability and mathematical statistics (scientific area MAT/06). The habilitation within three years is a mandatory requirement for tenure. With habilitation and after positive evaluation of the scientific production and teaching duties at the University of Trento, the position will be converted into a permanent associate professor position.
Salary and starting grant: The gross annual income is 45.367,46 Euros. Candidates who have had their residence outside Italy in the two years before taking the position can apply for a tax exemption in the framework of the "Rientro dei cervelli" program. The position is endowed with a 12,000 EUR starting grant, plus an annual research budget of approximately 2000 EUR.
