Are you an enthusiastic, driven postgraduate with a major statistical qualification keen to lead a portfolio of clinical trials research.

The Clinical Trials Research Unit is an international leader in the field of clinical trials. The Unit is one of the largest in the UK and conducts national and international early phase and late phase clinical trials in a variety of clinical fields. Our results inform the academic development of this specialised field of clinical research on a national and international level. Particularly, we specialise in complex phase III trials, early phase I/II trials, biomarker-driven designs, seamless phase II/III designs, adaptive designs and the development, optimisation and evaluation of complex interventions, including cluster randomised and complex factorial designs.

You will be a talented and dynamic individual with a postgraduate qualification, including a major statistical component, and extensive applied experience in clinical trial statistics and/or medical statistics. You will have an interest in evaluating novel treatments or interventions of pharmaceuticals, radiotherapy, surgical or diagnostic devices or complex/ behavioural interventions, especially in cancer (specifically colorectal, breast, renal and haematological malignancies), stroke and rehabilitation, older people and palliative care, mental health, gastroenterology, musculoskeletal disease, cardiovascular disease or skin research. You will lead a portfolio of trials, funded by Yorkshire Cancer Research and National Institute of Health Research, evaluating novel treatment interventions and linked stratification, including biomarkers and frailty assessment, in colorectal cancer.

You will join a large, well-established group of statisticians and will work on trials designed to answer questions of real importance that will ultimately develop the clinical pathway to improved disease outcomes and patient care.
