The HK PhD Fellowship is a prestigious award established by the Research Grants Council (RGC) of the HKSAR Government. Each Fellowship recipient will receive financial award in the amount of USD195,300 for the 4-year PhD study. The financial award consists of CYC SGS Entrance Scholarship (which covers the tuition and on-campus hostel fees in the first year of research study), and a monthly stipend and a conference and research-related travel allowance. Students with outstanding academic progress in their later years of study may receive a Research Tuition Scholarship to cover their full tuition fees.

Research in systems engineering is conducted in areas such as industrial statistics, reliability, risk analysis, data mining, operations research, manufacturing systems, logistics and supply chains and human factor engineering. Research in engineering management is conducted in areas such as innovation, entrepreneurship, project management, operations management, quality management and engineering asset management.
