This is an exciting opportunity to join the Geospatial Statistics and Health Surveillance Group led by Dr. Paula Moraga (www.paulamoraga.com) at the King Abdullah University of Science and Technology (KAUST).
The successful candidate will be involved in the development of innovative statistical methods and computational tools for health and environmental applications. Potential research areas include disease mapping, early detection of disease outbreaks, integration of spatial and spatio-temporal data, and the development of R packages for data analysis and visualization. Examples of research projects are in our research page (www.paulamoraga.com/research ). The candidate will interact closely with collaborators in the Statistics program (http://stat.kaust.edu.sa) and around the world, and will be provided with generous travel funding to attend conferences and workshops.
The successful candidate should have a PhD in statistics, mathematics, computer science, or a related quantitative field, as well as excellent written and verbal English communication skills. Experience in spatial statistics, Bayesian modeling, and spatial epidemiology would be an advantage.
The position comes with a very competitive tax-free salary as well as free housing and health insurance. The post is tenable for one year in the first instance and renewable for a further two years.
