Ph.D. position in Operations Research
DESCRIPTION
The Make our Planet Great Again (MOPGA) initiative is one of the components of France’s strategy in the fight against global warming. As part of this initiative, the French government will co-fund the work of 20 Ph.D. candidates conducting research on areas related to climate change and energy transition. One of the pre-selected topics deals with the application of operations research tools to the design and operation of electric bus lines. CONTEXT
The thesis will be co-advised by Michel Gendreau (Polytechnique Montréal – CIRRELT), Christelle Guéret (Université d’Angers – LARIS), and Jorge E. Mendoza (Polytech Tours – LIFAT). The selected student will prepare his or her dissertation under a joint degree agreement and spend at least 24 months in Montreal and 24 months in Angers.
DESIRED QUALIFICATIONS
The ideal applicant possesses strong computer programming skills (preferably in Java) and software architecture; has advance knowledge of operations research models and methods; and is able to communicate comfortably in English. Such applicants must hold a Master degree in operations research, management science, industrial engineering, or applied mathematics. Knowledge of French is only necessary for making life more pleasant in France and Quebec but not professionally required. Citizens or permanent residents of France are not eligible.
