This is an exciting opportunity for an ambitious Research Statistician to work with Dr Adrian Mander, Director of Hub for Trials Methodology Research, and Dr Jayne Marshall, Director of Statistics in Early Clinical Development, to carry out cutting edge research within the Early Phase Trial Designs for Combination Products for Oncology project. You will join the internationally-renowned University of Cambridge MRC Biostatistics Unit and Global Pharmaceutical company. AstraZeneca, both have teams that have a strong focus on adaptive clinical trials.
As part of the Unit's industrial collaboration with AstraZeneca we are seeking to appoint a research associate in Biostatistics who will develop and apply state-of-the-art trial design methodologies to be used in dual-agent dose escalation trials. The main aim of the project is to improve current trial designs to use all the available data to make future oncology early phase trials safer and more informative.
You will have a PhD in statistics, a strong statistical computing and programming background, and have an interest in developing new trial designs to cope with the future of maximising the utility of early phase trials. Experience in clinical trials methodology is a bonus but more importantly, you should have solid experience in Bayesian statistics. You must have good communication skills and be able to contribute substantially to the writing of scientific papers. The position will be based in both the Early Clinical Development Biometrics group and the Biostatistics Unit Design and Analysis of Randomised Trial theme, being part of a large group of researchers with interests in trial designs. There are opportunities to work with other teams within both groups to further the research.
The MRC Biostatistics Unit aims to advance medical science by the development, application and dissemination of statistical methods. It is one of Europe's leading biostatistics research institutions and includes many internationally renowned statisticians. It provides a privileged environment for conducting research within the Cambridge biomedical environment.
