USI, the Università della Svizzera italiana, located in Lugano, Switzerland, invites applications from candidates of excellent international research standing and visibility for a Professor position in Data Science with open rank. The position will be located in the Institute of Computational Science (ICS), Faculty of Informatics. ICS was established in 2008 and is one of the largest institutes in Computational Science in Switzerland. The ICS wants to expand its activities in the area of data science.
The successful candidate is expected to conduct world-class research in Data Science with a strong focus on computational methods, their statistical and mathematical analysis, and their applications. The successful candidate is expected to contribute actively to the growth of the field Data Science at the ICS. Interdisciplinary work is welcome. The successful candidate will contribute to teaching at all levels in the faculty of informatics, including the teaching offers of the ICS related to Data Science and Computational Science.
Candidates from statistics, applied mathematics, physics, computer science, quantitative social sciences and related disciplines are particularly encouraged to apply.
