We are actively looking for a Senior Biostatistician with expertise in high throughput experiments in genomics and/or microbial ecology data. This person will build classic statistical, Bayesian, and machine learning models. Modelling aims will include inference and prediction. We process soil samples and obtain our own soil taxonomic, soil functional and soil ecological data, and collect as well other relevant metadata from public repositories. We are interested in developing novel methodologies that can enhance our products' utility for our clients.
Your Responsibilities:
● Evaluate existing production and development code with an aim to improve rigor, accuracy, and/or performance
● Conduct timely structured analyses for reports and publications
● Evaluate and rapidly implement several approaches in cases of novel problems, and propose an appropriate solution
● Document, report, and present clearly the analysis flow, according to the principles of
reproducible research
● Communicate, explain, and contextualize statistical concepts and results to a wide variety of stakeholders (with varying degrees of statistical know-how)
● Support the data science team in the form of statistical advice as well as developing solutions
● Support comprehension and actionability of our BeCrop & Gheom reports, ensuring the
satisfaction and recurrence of clients
● Timely and successful delivery of our solutions according to customer needs
You Have:
● Passion for innovation, agriculture and technology
● An undergraduate or master’s degree in Biostatistics, Machine Learning, Data Science, or a related field
● At least 3 years of experience as a data scientist / biostatistician
● At least 1 year of experience with genomic data (soil data experience is plus)
● Knowledge of a wide variety of statistical and machine learning models at both theoretical and practical levels
Biome Makers: Functional Soil Analysis
● Advanced-level R or Python skills (ability to automate is crucial)
● Demonstrated ability to communicate, present and influence credibly and effectively at all levels of the organization
● Strong business sense, and industry expertise
● You are fluent in English and (Spanish is a big plus)
● You are a multi-task maker (this is key for the position), the moment you get out of bed, you’re getting stuff done
You Might Also Have:
● A PhD degree, and/or several years of experience after your degree
● Management experience
● A can-do "make it happen" attitude: you are comfortable making decisions with little supervision, and you would never say “That’s not my job!”
