Ball Aerospace leads the way in designing, developing and manufacturing innovative aerospace systems. We take on some of the most complex and exciting challenges in the universe--from space and Earth science to national security and intelligence programs.
We produce spacecraft, instruments and sensors, RF and microwave technologies, data exploitation solutions, and a variety of advanced aerospace technologies and products. In addition, we pioneered the development of the commercial remote sensing market, producing spacecraft and imaging systems that helped spawn a market-driven demand for imagery.
Our success is built on more than products or systems. Our team of more than 3,000 engineers, scientists, technicians and support staff drives all the achievements at Ball Aerospace. Whether contributing to a better understanding of the universe or helping keep our nation safe, our people bring their diverse backgrounds, perspectives and skills together to achieve a common mission.
Ball Aerospace's Albuquerque office, located near Kirtland Air Force Base NM, is a key provider of technical services to the Air Force Research Laboratory Directed Energy and Space Vehicles directorates. Our multi-discipline staff provides a broad range of scientific and engineering services, including laboratory and field experiments, technology assessments, modeling & simulation, and analyses. We are seeking additional qualified researchers and engineers to join our science and technology oriented organization.
Senior Research Analyst
Ball Aerospace & Technologies Corp. is currently recruiting for a Senior Research Analyst to expand our R&D capabilities within the Albuquerque area.
Ball Aerospace has been a leader in applied research for over two decades for the Air Force Research Laboratory. To meet this growing requirement, we have identified a need to expand our analysis team.

. Develop, direct and lead analytical studies associated with stress-strength problems involving thermo-structural response of materials, components and systems.
. Develop probabilistic methodologies, usually anchored to empirical data and theory, to provide probabilistic estimates with associated confidence intervals.
. Provide detailed explanation of the proper interpretation of probabilistic quantities for subsequent higher order modeling or decision makers.
. Gather, organize and quantify data, to include uncertainties, for use in probabilistic models or methodologies.
. Develop models, or provide directions to software developers, to develop computer simulations to exercise probabilistic models.
. Collaborate with computational scientists, physicists, experimentalists, and other researches to develop a problem-solving strategy and associated analytical methodology.
. Lead project teams as necessary to develop methodologies or conduct studies.
. Other responsibilities may include performing failure modes and criticality analyses to identify key failure modes and mechanisms, mentoring more junior team members, developing roadmaps for long-term research goals, and managing/reporting project programmatic status.
. Routine presentation and documentation of technical status and/or results.
. May work with classified information which requires thorough knowledge of DoD procedures for the proper usage and safeguarding of classified information.

. MS in Science and/or PhD degree preferred.
. Strong probability and statistics background with good knowledge of physical sciences such as thermodynamics, material science and/or physical chemistry.
. Experience with probabilistic modeling of complex systems.
. Demonstrated knowledge of analytical sciences such as reliability analysis, modeling and simulation, uncertainty analysis or risk analysis.
. Familiarity with DoD aerospace systems, ground systems and general mechanical engineering concepts.
. Candidate must have strong organization skills and be detailed-oriented.
. Excellent written and verbal communication skills required.
. In addition to the typical educational and experience requirements, a demonstrated capability to adequately perform the essential functions and responsibilities of the position and exhibit the skills and competencies of the grade level should be considered. Each higher-level degree, i.e., Master's Degree or Ph.D., may substitute for two years of experience.
