Lecturer in Statistics (Ref: STM0528)

We are seeking to appoint a Lecturer in Statistics for a fixed term of one year and full time. The successful candidate will be expected to contribute to both teaching and research within the Statistics Group.
Teaching may involve undergraduate and/or postgraduate programmes.
The successful candidate will have a track record in research and will be expected to enhance the Statistics Group by their individual contributions and through interactions with other members of the Group.
The Statistics Group at Kent consists of 3 Professors, 3 Senior Lecturers and 7 Lecturers, one of whom currently has a NERC Fellowship.
The research interests of the Statistics Group cover a wide spectrum, including both methodological and applied work. The main areas of emphasis are Bayesian methods, particularly Bayesian non-parametrics and MCMC methods, biological and ecological statistics, including strong involvement in the National Centre for Statistical Ecology (http://www.ncse.org.uk), shape statistics, financial econometrics, genetics, neuroimaging, multivariate methods and non-parametric regression.
The Statistics Group is part of the School of Mathematics, Statistics and Actuarial Science, which has approximately 55 full-time academic staff and offers a variety of UG and PG degrees, with over 1000 current students. As well as a BSc in Mathematics and Statistics, we have MSc programmes in Statistics and Statistics with Finance.
As part of the Faculty of Sciences, the School has an Institutional Bronze Athena SWAN Award. With the aim of further embedding equal opportunities for women within its working practices, the School has recently gained its own individual Athena SWAN Bronze award and is now starting to work towards an application for the Silver award.
Applicants should hold a PhD in a relevant field, and be able to teach at both undergraduate and postgraduate level and will also be required to undertake some administrative duties.
