JOB: Professors of Mathematics and Statistics, University of Newcastle, Australia

Professors of Mathematics and Statistics
University of Newcastle, Australia

The University of Newcastle’s vision is to stand as a global leader, creating a better future for its regions through innovation, impact, and a commitment to excellence and equity. With the University’s next major initiative being the development of a STEMM (Science, Technology, Engineering, Mathematics and Medicine) Precinct, the School of Mathematical and Physical Sciences will play a key part in delivering this strategy.

The School has a reputation for the quality of its research, especially the breakthroughs it has provided in areas such as Categorical Data Analysis and Visualisation, Organic Electronics, and Zero-Dimensional Symmetry. Given the University’s four Global Impact Clusters, there are extensive opportunities for working across disciplines and engaging with industry. Excellence applies equally to the quality of the education experience for students.

Under the leadership of the newly appointed Pro Vice Chancellor for the Faculty of Science, Professor Lee Smith, the School is now looking to appoint the next generation of high calibre research and teaching academics. The School is seeking a Professor of Mathematics, a Professor of Applied Mathematics and a Professor of Data Science. The University is also seeking to make a number of supporting appointments at the Associate Professor, Senior Lecturer and Lecturer levels, marking an exciting period in the School’s development.
