The Faculty of Health and Wellbeing wishes to appoint a health statistician who will be based in the Lancashire Clinical Trials Unit and be part of the Faculty's wider and expanding Methodological Support Group.
In the role you will contribute to the design, analysis and reporting of randomised controlled trials and other well-designed studies in health. You will work closely with other experienced staff in statistics and other research areas, and you will join or closely collaborate with research teams; these typically comprise members from both within and outside the University. You will be supported to develop your own area of research consistent with the Faculty's research strategy and planned Research Excellence Framework submission; this support will including appropriate development opportunities (training, conferences, workshops etc.). The position will also involve some teaching, research student supervision and work on innovation or knowledge transfer projects, both internally and externally with local NHS Trust partners.
You will have working experience of a relevant research area, have worked with professionals from health-related disciplines (e.g. health, medicine, nursing, psychology) and have produced written research reports involving mathematical and/or statistical modelling techniques. Experience in collaborating with and/or delivering statistics services to research teams as well as teaching/supervising undergraduate students, postgraduate students and/or post-experiential learners is also essential.
You will have a postgraduate degree in medical statistics or a closely related subject and a higher education teaching qualification (or willingness to undertake on appointment).
