We seek an Associate Professor in mathematical statistics for a permanent post. Applicants should strengthen our research in the area, which includes biostatistics, statistical learning, spatial statistics, and non-parametric statistics. The deadline for applications is May 31, 2021.
The Department of Mathematics and Mathematical Statistics conducts research in computational mathematics, discrete mathematics, mathematical modelling and analysis, as well as mathematical statistics. Our teaching activities encompass all levels and include mathematics, mathematical statistics and computational science. We are responsible for a five-year engineering program in industrial economics. We also run, in collaboration with neighboring departments, two cross-disciplinary research environments, Icelab (www.icelab.se) and UMIT Research Lab (www.org.umu.se/umit).
For the first three years, the employment comes with research and competence development time corresponding to 50 % of full time. After these three years, there is the possibility to apply in competition for up to 75 % research time from the faculty. At the department, there is also the possibility to apply for co-funding of PhD-student positions.
Umeå offers excellent working and living conditions. The working environment is international and very family friendly, as exemplified by a generous allotment of 480 days paid parental leave for each child. Umeå is a young city located right next to a large river. It is surrounded by forests and lakes and lies close by the sea. The city offers excellent opportunities for both outdoor and indoor activities.
