UNIVERSITY LECTURER IN STATISTICS
DEPARTMENT OF STATISTICS in association with Magdalen College
The Department of Statistics proposes to appoint a University Lecturer in Statistics from 1 April 2013 or as soon as possible thereafter. The successful candidate will work at the Department of Statistics and will be offered a Tutorial Fellowship at Magdalen College under arrangements described in the further particulars. The combined University and College salary will be on a scale currently from £42,883 per annum, and additional allowances are available, including a pensionable housing allowance of £11,000 if the successful candidate chooses not to reside in College. The appointment will be initially for five years at which point, upon completion of a successful review, the post-holder will be eligible for reappointment to the retiring age.
The successful candidate will have research interests that will augment, complement or build upon those of current members of the department, will have a PhD or equivalent degree in Statistics or a related discipline, and a strong, relevant research record published in leading journals, as well as the potential to attract appropriate research funding. The appointee will also be expected to have the ability to lecture in a wide range of topics for the joint Mathematics and Statistics degree at Oxford and the MSc programme in Applied Statistics, provide relevant supervision of graduate students, tutorial teaching in the first and second year of the Mathematics degree, and to carry out relevant duties of a Tutorial Fellow.
