Duties: Perform a variety of technical duties involved in the application of intermediate statistical and technical skills in the collection, compilation and analysis of health and environmental data in conjunction with an academic research program in support of a statistical function. Write academic research papers based on analytical findings. Applied statistical analysis will be in the context of health with an environmental and spatial focus, relying on both clinical and administrative health data. The responsibilities of the position will consist of conducting data analyses for health data with an environmental focus, which includes performing a variety of duties involving the application of intermediate statistical and technical skills to the design of research studies, and to the collection, compilation and analysis of statistical data. Provide statistical input in the design, execution and analysis of scientifically conducted studies. Participate in the development of operations and procedures for the collection, editing, verification and management of statistical data. Assist in data management activities, including maintenance of audit trails and documentation for data management and statistical processes conducted, as well as critical review of processing code written by other team members. Conduct data analyses using SAS, R or other applications, as appropriate. Operate one or more systems of computer hardware and statistical analysis software for the management and analysis of data. Participate in the preparation of written reports and oral presentations that summarize the analysis of data, interpret the findings, and provide conclusions and recommendations. Assist in the writing of grant proposals and reports. Perform other related duties incidental to the work described herein. The individual in this position functions independently as a member of a research/study team, but will also lead projects involving team members with different expertise. Establish and achieve both individual and team priorities and goals.
Required Qualifications: A Master's degree in statistics, biostatistics or a health science field with extensive statistical applications. One or more years of experience in data manipulation and analysis using SAS, R, and/or STATA; demonstrated knowledge of applied health statistics using a variety of statistical models. Ability to accurately and efficiently assess technical problems and program solutions. Must have outstanding attention to detail, be well organized, and have the ability to manage priorities and timelines across multiple projects. Must be interested in applied statistical research questions focused on health and the environment. Must be interested in writing academic manuscripts based on results of statistical analyses. Requires the ability to manage the work of others, set priorities, follow-through, ensure deadlines are met, and interact with faculty to anticipate needs, understand/interpret requests, and complete projects. Excellent communication skills, both oral and written are required. Must have good interpersonal skills. Must have experience working collaboratively with team members having different skills and expertise, as well as experience with projects involving iterative work processes. Must have a proven ability to write clear and concise technical documentation for use by others
