TENURE TRACK OR TENURED POSITION IN COMPUTATIONAL SCIENCE
which is expected to be filled at the Assistant or Associate Professor level.

Job description
This position is located in the Department of Biomedical Engineering and Computational Science, BECS (http://becs.aalto.fi/en/) of Aalto University School of Science, and it is open to talented individuals who hold a doctorate and have excellent potential for a productive scientific career. On the basis of experience and competence, the successful candidate will be placed on the appropriate level of the tenure track system (Assistant Professor, Associate Professor or Full Professor). An Assistant Professor is appointed for a fixed term, and an Associate Professor and a Full Professor for an indefinite term. Individuals placed on the Aalto University tenure track for Professors advance in their career through regular performance assessments, which take into account their merits in all areas of duty.
The main, partially interleaved and synergistic, research areas of BECS are Computational Science, Cognitive Neuroscience, and Biomedical Engineering and Biophysics. The focus areas in Computational Science are complex networks and probabilistic modeling, including model selection and assessment, and practical approximate Bayesian models. One of the strengths of the department is synergetic application of the methodological research in the other research areas of the department.
The present call is targeted to the field of probabilistic modeling. The appointed professor is expected to perform outstanding research, to teach and supervise students at graduate and undergraduate levels, to follow advances in their field, to take part in societal interaction and international collaboration and to raise research funds.
Requirements
The applicants are expected to hold a doctoral degree in a field relevant to the position and should show outstanding promise and/or accomplishments in both research and teaching.
Applicants aiming for the tenured, associate or full professor levels should include in their research statement a strategic vision for their area. All applicants are encouraged to describe their teaching experience and interests in teaching probabilistic modeling at BECS.
The applicants will be reviewed on the basis of their research, teaching, academic leadership and activity in scientific community.

Aalto University follows the salary system of Finnish universities, but applicants may also provide salary requirements.
