Intelligent Systems Specialist
Based in Christchurch, New Zealand
THE ROLE:
Wynyard’s research function is currently focusing on the area of information discovery from structured and unstructured data. This work draws heavily on machine learning and statistical techniques such as classification, regression, latent factor analysis, clustering, time series analysis, and entity network analysis.
Therefore we are looking for an Intelligent Systems Specialist to deliver a soundly-researched comparison of relevant techniques. This includes ways of combining them, to deliver required functionality for fraud detection, relationship discovery and event prediction engines that will form a core component of Wynyard’s information discovery platform. The research is expected to significantly enhance the performance of Wynyard’s existing tools and algorithms.
In addition to the specific research objectives, it is also anticipated that this position will provide general advice on techniques for evaluating information discovery systems, and suggest improvements to Wynyard’s overall strategy in this area.
THE KEY RESPONSIBILITIES:
● Working as a crucial component of a project team responsible for enhancing existing systems or developing new systems.
● Analysing solution requirements and defining algorithm parameters and specifications
● Analysing problems in algorithm development and guiding the rectification of faults in programs.
● Guiding other members of the project team about relevant aspects of your specialty used in product research and development
● Undertaking analysis of current technology in computational intelligence products and determining approaches to implement in our products, which will improve their applicability, performance and integrity.
● Meeting with user groups to gather and analyse end user requirements.
THE SUCCESSFUL CANDIDATE WILL HAVE:
● PhD or Masters in the areas of machine learning / statistics / computer science
● Experience in applying skills and knowledge to realistic problems
● Strong skills in machine learning, data mining, relating entities and concepts, big data analysis
● Entity resolution and network analysis and exploration
● Good oral and written communication skills
