Associate Director of the Division's Coordinating Center for Biometric Research (Minnesota)

*ASSOCIATE DIRECTOR, DATA COORDINATING CENTER* *ASSOCIATE/FULL PROFESSOR OF BIOSTATISTICS*

The Division of Biostatistics, University of Minnesota School of Public Health is announcing an opening for an Associate Director of the Division’s Coordinating Center for Biometric Research (CCBR). The selected candidate will also be appointed as a tenured faculty member in the Division of Biostatistics at the Associate or Full Professor rank, commensurate with experience, and take a leadership role in determining the future direction of CCBR.

We are interested in individuals with previous leadership experience in coordinating and conducting multicenter clinical trials. Candidates should have a PhD in Biostatistics or a related field with research records in methods for clinical trial design, conduct, and analysis, commensurate with faculty appointment at the given level, as well as a history of externally funded collaborative research, are also required. We will, however, consider applications from candidates with research interests in closely related areas. In addition to the position’s research, grant-writing, and administrative duties, the successful candidate will teach one course per year and serve as research mentor for graduate students.

The Division and CCBR have significant strengths in the area targeted by this search. At the present time, CCBR has statistical and data coordinating centers for NIH-funded clinical trials networks in HIV/AIDS, Ebola, influenza, lung, and cardiovascular disease. These coordinating centers employ xx individuals with expertise in statistics, data management, and regulatory issues. A substantial part of the CCBR’s research portfolio is international research, so applicants must have a strong interest in maintaining and building international collaborations.

The Division also collaborates locally on research in cancer prevention and treatment, dentistry and periodontology, psychiatry/psychology, environmental and occupational health, health policy, chronic and neurodegenerative diseases, and smoking prevention, among many areas.
Multi-year grants and contracts for Divisional projects total over $150M annually.

The Division of Biostatistics (http://www.sph.umn.edu/biostatistics) currently includes 33 graduate faculty and 65 staff. The Division offers MS, MPH, and PhD degrees as well as a Certificate in Applied Biostatistics, and interacts in teaching, advising and research with the University of Minnesota School of Statistics. At the present time, the Division has 63 graduate students (25 MS and 38 PhD).
