How to arrive
For arriving at Santiago de Compostela by public transport, we recommend coming by plane or train.
- Santiago has an airport near the city: “Santiago-Rosalía de Castro Airport” (IATA: SCQ).
*From Santiago’s airport, there are public buses connecting with the city centre (Line 6, price: 1 EUR, http://www.tussa.org/mediateca/documentos/AEROPORTO_Tte.Urbano_L6_e.pdf)
*In front of the airport you can also take a taxi (price airport-city centre: 21 EUR). Phone number: (+34) 981 591 575.
Due to the lack of international connections, you may consider flying to Madrid or Porto (Portugal). Other close airports are A Coruña and Vigo.
-All the trains arriving at Santiago are operated by RENFE (https://www.renfe.com/es/en). There you may check for trains coming from Madrid, A Coruña or Vigo.
-One of the main bus companies coming to Santiago is Monbus (https://www.monbus.es/en), which has regular buses from A Coruña and Vigo. The bus company Flixbus (https://www.flixbus.co.uk/) has a direct bus going from Paris (France) to Santiago, with several stops in the north of Spain.
You can find more international connections flying to Porto (Francisco Sá Carneiro Airport, IATA: OPO; Portugal).
-There are direct buses connecting Porto Airport with Santiago de Compostela bus station (in the city centre). The bus company providing those services is ALSA (https://www.alsa.com/en/web/bus/offers). During weekdays they have direct connections at 11:00, 13:10, and 17:10.
-An alternative is going by bus to Vigo with AUTNA (https://www.autna.com/en/timetable-and-fares/). The direct connections from Porto airport to Vigo bus station are at 11:45, 14:45, and 20:30. Note that with the last bus, you would have to spend the night at Vigo as it arrives at 23:15.
