Dear Colleagues,
Dear Friends,

It is our pleasure to announce the "2nd International Workshop on Functional and Operatorial Statistics" (http://eio.usc.es/pub/iwfos/)

This event will take place in Santander (Spain) on "16, 17, 18 June, 2011".

Content:

  1. Prioritized topics
  2. Registrations
  3. Submissions of abstracts
  4. Scientific organization
  5. Publications : Proceedings and Special Issue
  6. List of Invited Speakers

1. Priorized topics

The scientific policy of this workshop aims to prioritize all topics linked with "high/infinite dimensional statistical problems or methods" with special emphasis on:

  •  Statistical modelling for functional variables
  •  Functional Data Analysis
  •  Operator-based Statistics
  •  High-dimensional Statistics

The objective of this conference is to highlight the major trends in these different areas of statistics through the exchange of ideas and the promotion of collaboration between researchers from different countries. It aims at contributing to future developments of the fields.

2. Registrations:

online on the website http://eio.usc.es/pub/iwfos/ (Early Registration fees by March 15, 2011)

3. Submission:

online on the website http://eio.usc.es/pub/iwfos/ (see "Contributions")

  • DEADLINE: DECEMBER 30, 2010

4. Scientific organization:

From a general point of view, one wishes to organize a workshop not too big in terms of speakers (no parallel session) and not too long (5 half days). A reasonable number of "Oral communications" would be about 20. That is why one intends to organize a special "Poster session" for contributions  unselected for "Oral communications".

5. Publications:

We will edit a proceeding book (with Springer) containing the selected oral/poster communications as well as a special issue in the international journal of Statistics (TEST) for the best contributions in the prioritized areas of this meeting.

6. Invited speakers:

  • Ciprian CRAINICEANU (Johns Hopkins University, USA)
  • Ricardo FRAIMAN (Center of Mathematics, UR)
  • Sungkyu JUNG (University of North Carolina, USA)
  • Alois KNEIP (Bonn University, GER)
  • Piotr KOKOSZKA (Utah State University, USA)
  • David KRAUS (Ecole polytechnique fédérale de Lausanne, CH)
  • Clifford LAM (London School of Economics, UK)
  • Ian McKEAGUE (Columbia University, USA)
  • Hans-Georg MUELLER (University of California, USA)
  • Efstathios PAPARODITIS (University of Ciprius)

Please circulate the following announcement, call for papers and leaflet to your colleagues.

Thank you for your attention,
Hoping see you in Santander,
Sincerely Yours,

On behalf of the organizers,

  • Juan Antonio Cuesta-Albertos,
