1. In june 2013, one of the leading researchers on the field at Norwegian University of Science and Technology (NTNU), Asgeir Tomasgard, was invited to USC give a two day course on Stochastic Optimization. During this course and the discussions that it generated, the potential benefits of a joint collaboration between the groups at both universities became quite apparent, with this NILS mobility projects presenting themselves as the ideal mechanism to foster this cooperation.
