Tenure Track Assistant Professorships at University of Cincinnati

Applications are invited for three tenure-track Assistant Professorships, one in Statistics and two in Mathematics focused on Analysis and/or Applied Mathematics, two of the department's concentrated research areas of strength.

The Department of Mathematical Sciences has a strong graduate program offering MS and PhD degrees in statistics and pure and applied mathematics.

The department is dedicated to excellence in both research and teaching.

Statistics faculty are involved in both methodological and interdisciplinary research. Their research interests include Bayesian methods, spatial and environmental statistics, and statistical methods and computing for massive data. Analysis faculty have a strong presence in the international research communities of Geometric Analysis and PDEs. Applied Mathematics faculty have research interests in mathematical physics, mathematical biology and ecology, systems biology, and numerical analysis. Statistics and Applied Math faculty have active collaborations, internally with faculty of the UC College of Medicine and the UC College of Engineering & Applied Science, and externally with the Cincinnati Children's Hospital Medical Center and Wright-Patterson Air Force Base. The normal teaching load for research-active faculty is six credit hours per semester with a three credit hour reduction for new faculty in each of the first two years and a reduced service role. The job duties include maintaining an active research program, continually seeking external funding, mentoring graduate students, and teaching both graduate and undergraduate courses.

Completed applications consisting of a cover letter, CV, description of research program (if applicable), description of teaching experience (if applicable), and three letters of recommendation, should be submitted on mathjobs.org @ https://www.mathjobs.org/jobs/jobs/6622. Applicants must also submit a CV and cover letter on UC's recruitment system @ www.jobsatuc.com/applicants/Central?quickFind=90420. Review of applications will begin on December 10, 2014. The appointment will begin on August 15, 2015. The position requires a PhD degree in either mathematics or statistics to be awarded by August 14, 2015. Inquiries concerning the position should be directed to Dr. Bingyu Zhang or Dr. Don French, Search Committee co-Chairs, or Dr. Shuang Zhang, Head of Department of Mathematical Sciences.

Applications will be accepted until the position is filled. The University of Cincinnati is an equal opportunity/affirmative action employer. Women, people of color, those with disabilities, and veterans are encouraged to apply.
