2 post-doctoral research fellows in statistical classification at University College Dublin

We are looking for two suitable candidates to develop advanced statistical classification models in an industrial context based on textual data. The role will involve working jointly with the Insight Centre for Data Analytics at University College Dublin, Ireland and Clavis Insight (clavisinsight.com).

The data for this project arise from the need to classify products in online shopping environments, and to identify new classifications as data are streamed in from the web. The project will be supervised by Dr Andrew Parnell (Principal Investigator) and Professor Nial Friel.

Candidates must meet the following criteria:
- PhD in Statistics or Computer Science
- Demonstrable expertise in at least one of: Bayesian statistics, computational statistics, text mining, or statistical classification
- Knowledge of R or Python
- A demonstrated commitment to research and publications
- An understanding of the operational requirements for a successful research project
- Evidence of research activity (publications, conference presentations, awards) and future scholarly output (working papers, research proposals, and ability to outline a research project
- Excellent Communication Skills (Oral, Written, Presentation etc)
- Excellent Organisational and Administrative skills including a proven ability to work to deadlines


The role is for 12 months with salary in the range €33,975 - €36,003 per annum.
