Applications are invited for a Research Associate position in the Department of Mathematics at Imperial College London to work in the area of statistical signal processing. The position is funded through the EPSRC Grant EP/P011535/1. The RA will work directly with Dr Edward Cohen and will join a vibrant Statistics Section.

The Project title is Wavelet Coherence for Point Processes. Wavelet coherence is a tool for analysing correlations between a pair of non-stationary random processes in time-frequency space. Its use in analysing time series is widespread. The main aims of this project is to develop the theory of wavelet coherence for point processes, and develop and implement methodology for estimating it.

The Statistics Section of the Department is consistently rated one of the top in the country for research. We have 17 permanent faculty and research expertise in several diverse areas including: Signal Processing, Statistical Theory, Applied Probability, Bayesian Methods and Computation, Machine Learning, Big Data and Astrostatistics. Currently we have over 40 PhD students and RAs in the Section who contribute to a young and dynamic environment. We believe we offer a world class training environment for post-doctoral researchers.

The successful candidate must have a PhD degree in statistics, mathematics, electrical engineering or closely related field, or an equivalent level of professional qualifications and experience.
