Tenure Track Assistant Professor position at UTEP

POSITION DESCRIPTION: The Department of Mathematical Sciences at The University of Texas at El Paso (UTEP) is seeking an applied mathematician specialized in computational sciences, preferably with expertise in mathematical modeling for big data and/or high performance data analytics, for a tenure-track position at the Assistant Professor level. Successful candidates are expected to develop productive research programs and will be required to mentor and teach at both the undergraduate and graduate levels.
Anticipated appointment date is fall 2016.

ABOUT THE DEPARTMENT: The Department of Mathematical Sciences is a highly productive department at UTEP and contributes to interdisciplinary programs across the college. Over the past five years its faculty members have published more than 300 peer reviewed manuscripts and helped secure more than $26 million in grants. Existing faculty expertise includes algebra and combinatorics, fixed point theory, statistics, bioinformatics, computational science, topology and applied mathematics. During the last two years, UTEP was ranked #1 by Diverse: Issues in Higher Education and by Hispanic Outlook in Higher Education for Mathematics and Statistics degrees conferred to Hispanic students both at the undergraduate and master’s levels. REQUIRED QUALIFICATIONS: Applicants must have a Ph.D., postdoctoral experience, a strong record of research accomplishments, and the capacity to secure extramural funding.
