UNIVERSITY LECTURER IN STATISTICS FIXED TERM APPOINTMENT OF 5 YEARS' DURATION

The Department of Statistics proposes to appoint a University Lecturer in Statistics, from 1 October 2013, for a fixed term of five years.

The successful candidate will work at the Department of Statistics and will be offered a Tutorial Fellowship at Jesus College under arrangements described in the further particulars.

The combined University and College salary will be on a scale currently from £42,883 per annum.

The successful candidate will have research interests in either modern computational statistics and statistical machine learning, or in some other branch of Statistics that augments, complements or builds upon the research interests of current members of the department.

The successful candidate will have a PhD or equivalent degree in Statistics or related discipline, and a strong, relevant research record published in leading journals, as well as the potential to attract appropriate research funding.

The appointee will also be expected to have the ability to lecture in a wide range of topics for the joint Mathematics and Statistics degree at Oxford, the MSc programme in Applied Statistics, provide relevant supervision of graduate students, tutorial teaching in the first and second year of the Mathematics degree, and to carry out relevant duties of a Tutorial Fellow.
