JOB: Postdoctoral Research Associate in Statistics, University College London

Applications are invited for a Postdoctoral position in Statistics at the Department of Statistical Science, University College London.

The Research Associate will work on the EPSRC funded project: “Advanced Stochastic Computation for Inference from Tree, Graph and Network Models”, led by Dr Maria De Iorio in collaboration with Dr Alexandros Beskos, Professor David Balding (UCL Genetics Institute) and Associate Professor Ajay Jasra (Department of Statistics and Applied Probability, National University of Singapore). The main objective of the project is to develop and characterise principled approximations to complex statistical models and hence to facilitate their implementation in real data applications. The post is available from September 2013 and is initially funded for 36 months.

Candidates should hold or be close to submitting a PhD in Statistics (or equivalent qualification). It is essential that the successful candidate has previous experience of Bayesian methods, experience of programming simulation algorithms and excellent communication skills. If the successful candidate has not yet been awarded their PhD, the appointment will initially be made as Research Assistant on Grade 6 of the UCL salary scale (£28,338 - £29,881 per annum inclusive of London Allowance), and the appointee will be regraded to Research Associate on completion of the PhD.
