Candidates should have a commitment to high-quality teaching in honours and service mathematics to a broad range of students.

The School of Mathematical Sciences was ranked 8th nationally by Research Power in the 2008 RAE, within which the Statistics and Probability Research Group (SPRG) was ranked 6th nationally by quality. Research interests within the group include: stochastic epidemic modelling, shape and object data analysis, applied and theoretical probability, and computational and theoretical statistics, but candidates with interests in any area of statistics or applied probability are encouraged to apply.

Candidates should hold a PhD or equivalent in mathematics or a related subject and have achieved research distinction in statistics or applied probability, have strong leadership capability or potential and proven skills in high quality teaching.
