Director of the Statistical Consulting Center at Wright State University

Company Information: The Department of Mathematics and Statistics at Wright State University invites applications for the Director of the Statistical Consulting Center (SCC) with a tenured position in statistics at the rank of associate or full professor starting Fall 2016. Currently the department has 7 statistics faculty members. The SCC has 2.5 FTE statistical consultants, excluding the director, and serves clients both inside and outside the university community.

The SCC and the department are partners in the ongoing University wide effort to develop biostatistics research collaborations. The department has a strong record of research in biostatistics and has recently developed a biostatistics concentration as part of the Applied Statistics MS program. The SCC has a history of successful collaboration within the College of Science and Mathematics, with the College of Nursing and Health, and the Boonshoft School of Medicine. The new director of the SCC will have the opportunity to expand the SCC's scope of engagement to the Wright State Research Institute Clinical Trials Research Alliance with the Premier Health network, and Human Sciences Research Center. In addition, the Dayton metropolitan area is a regional hub for technology with the Wright Patterson Air Force Base, the Air Force Research Lab, and a variety of other firms that provide the USAF with technological expertise.

The department is also a major participating unit of a newly established Interdisciplinary Applied Science & Mathematics Ph.D. Program. Applicants in all areas of statistics will be considered. Candidates must have a Ph.D. in statistics or a related field, research and teaching experience commensurate with the department's expectation for an associate/full professor, and statistical consulting experience. The department will give preference to candidates who have previous administrative experience, show evidence of fostering collaborative research across disciplines, and evidence of seeking and obtaining external funding.
Position Title: Director of the Statistical Consulting Center and Associate/Full Professor in the Department of Mathematics and Statistics

Duties and Responsibilities: The position is an 11 month appointment. Duties include the directorship of the SCC, teaching two undergraduate or graduate courses per year, supervising students, conducting research in statistics, and providing service for the university and the profession.
