LECTURER IN STATISTICS (Ref: STM0758)

The University of Kent is currently advertising a fixed-term lectureship positions to provide maternity cover for a member of academic staff. The successful candidate will be expected to contribute to both teaching and research within the Statistics group. We welcome applicants with a background in any area of statistics, but preference will be given to candidates whose research areas resonate with those of the Statistics Group.

The School of Mathematics, Statistics and Actuarial Science provides a stimulating research environment in statistics, complemented by seminar series, international conferences and workshops. The School values diversity and inclusivity, and was the first school at the University of Kent to obtain an Athena Swan Bronze award.

The successful candidate will join one of the UK’s major statistics groups, which currently includes 14 academics, 16 PhD students, 3 research assistants/fellows and 7 emeritus and honorary staff. The successful candidate will contribute to our vibrant research environment and will also be expected to contribute to teaching at all levels, and to the life of the School in general.

The appointment will be fixed term for the purposes of maternity cover and as such the notice period will be the fixed term end date. However as maternity cover, the contract may be subject to the appropriate notice as detailed in the terms and conditions of service. Therefore the contract period may terminate sooner than the fixed term end date.
