Salary on a scale from £46,336 p.a. plus additional benefits including college housing allowance of £10,503 p.a., access to shared equity scheme and responsibility allowance of £1,527. An allowance of £2,700 p.a. would be payable upon award of Full Professor title.

The Department of Statistics at the University of Oxford is seeking applications for the post of Associate Professor of Statistics to be held in association with a Tutorial Fellowship at Jesus College with effect from 1 September 2018 or as soon as possible thereafter.

The Associate Professor will join the dynamic and collaborative Department of Statistics. The Department carries out world-leading research in statistical and population genetics, bioinformatics, core theoretical statistics, computational statistics, machine learning and probability.

The successful candidate will be an outstanding individual with the potential to be a leader in their field. They will hold a doctorate in the field of Statistics or a related subject and have a proven research record of high quality at an international level, as well as the potential to attract research funding. We particularly encourage candidates working on statistical theory and methods, who are willing to interact with existing research groups in the department.

They will have the skills and knowledge to lecture at undergraduate and graduate level, over a wide range of topics within Statistics, and the ability and enthusiasm to supervise students. They will also conduct teaching, examining and administrative duties in the department and perform tutorial fellowship duties in Jesus College including tutorials, teaching, undergraduate admissions and advising postgraduate students. Jesus College has a strong commitment to promoting and enabling education, learning, scholarship and research at the highest levels amongst its students and academic staff, whilst preserving an informal and friendly atmosphere. The Fellows of the College form a lively multi-disciplinary and international community. Fellows regularly use college facilities to host seminars, colloquia and conferences of several days’ duration.

The appointee will be based at the Department of Statistics, 24–29 St Giles’, Oxford, OX1 3LB, and at Jesus College, Turl Street, Oxford, OX1 3DW.
