Professor of Uncertainty Quantification (Applied Mathematics/Statistics) School of Mathematical Sciences The University of Nottingham

Applications are invited from outstanding candidates for this senior full professorial post, which lies at the interface of Statistics and Applied Mathematics. The successful candidate will be expected to contribute strongly to maintaining and enhancing the School’s high standards in research and teaching.

The School of Mathematical Sciences at the University of Nottingham (UK) (information about the School is available at http://www.nottingham.ac.uk/mathematics ) is making a major initiative in Uncertainty Quantification that will ultimately bring together extensive activity across the University into a Centre of Excellence. The Unit of Assessments for Applied Mathematics and Statistics were ranked 5th and 6th nationally in terms of Research Power and GPA respectively in the 2008 RAE.

The successful candidate will be expected to contribute to maintaining and enhancing our research record, and to pursue and encourage interdisciplinary research across the research groups in the School of Mathematical Sciences, notably in Statistics and Probability, Industrial and Applied Mathematics, Scientific Computing, and Mathematical Medicine and Biology, and more widely in the University, in the Faculties of Engineering, Science and Social Sciences.

In recognition of its commitment to promoting women in science, The University of Nottingham is one of four universities to hold a Silver Athena SWAN Award.

Candidates should hold a PhD (or equivalent) in statistics, mathematics or a related subject and have a commitment to high-quality teaching.
