Postdoctoral Fellow Position in Statistics-The University of Texas at Austin

Postdoctoral Fellow Position in Statistics.

The Department of Statistics and Data Sciences at The University of Texas at Austin (https://stat.utexas.edu/) invites applications for a two-year Postdoctoral Fellow position. The postdoctoral fellow will be supervised by Professor Lizhen Lin and co-supervised by Professors Thomas Shively and Stephen Walker.

The area of work will be in one or more of the following:

1. The role of geometry in statistics, which include projects on statistical inference of data lying in non-Euclidean spaces such as manifolds, networks, etc. Other research projects related to geometry in statistics include statistical inference of models whose parameters lie in general spaces such as subspaces, stratified spaces, and so on.
2. Bayesian nonparametric modeling and theory, including Bayesian nonparametric inference for complex data, shape constrained inference, mixture models, heavy tailed statistical inference, and Bayesian asymptotics.

Candidates should have a PhD in statistics, mathematics or a related field, along with a strong background in mathematical statistics and/or computational methods. A basic knowledge of differentiable geometry and/or Bayesian nonparametric theory is an advantage, though not essential.

Salaries are competitive and the position comes with outstanding benefits including fully covered health insurances (http://www.utexas.edu/hr/prospective/benefits.html). The position is expected to start in July or August 2015 with the possibility of it being earlier. All applicants should submit an application to This email address is being protected from spambots.
