Two tenure track assistant professor positions in Statistics

The Department of Mathematical Sciences at the University of Arkansas, Fayetteville invites applications for two tenure-track assistant professor positions to begin in August 2016. The positions are open to all candidates with research interests in any area of statistical applications, theory, or methods. Successful candidates must have a Ph.D. or international equivalent in statistics, biostatistics, or a closely related field by August 2016. Preference will be given to candidates whose research area matches those represented in the department and who have the potential to contribute beyond the department as a member of a multidisciplinary research team. Examples of desired research areas include, but are not limited to, Bayesian statistics, spatial processes, state space models, networks and graphical models, functional data.

Within the Fulbright College of Arts and Sciences, the department of Mathematical Sciences is developing, jointly with other departments and colleges, an interdisciplinary graduate program in Statistics and Analytics. The MS program is now in its second year, while a Ph.D. program is currently being planned. Plans for the creation of an Institute for Advanced Data Analytics are also under way. The hires in the department of Mathematical Sciences are part of an institutional effort to expand the Statistics and Analytics group. Other hires in this general area are expected in the College of Engineering and in the College of Business.
