The Department of Statistics and Operations Research of the University of Santiago de Compostela will host the V International Workshop on Spatio-Temporal Modelling (METMAV) from 30th June to 2nd July 2010. The purpose of this workshop is to promote the development and application of spatio-temporal statistical methods in different fields related to Environmental Sciences.
This workshop has been organized over the last decade by different Spanish research groups. Previous meetings were celebrated in Benicassim (2001), Granada (2004), Pamplona (2006) and Alghero (2008, Italy), and both the workshop participation and the scientific quality of the contributions have grown substantially since the first one. As for the previous editions, a special issue of Environmetrics will be edited for the conference papers, following the usual reviewing procedure. Another Special Issue of Journal of Environmental Statistics will be devoted to the conference contributions.
METMAV is a satellite conference of TIES.
METMAV will be held in Santiago de Compostela (Galicia, Spain), declared a World Heritage City by UNESCO thanks to its multicultural nature and as the final destination of a thousand-year-old pilgrim route: the Way of St. James, which, since the 9th century, has transformed this finis terrae into a meeting place of Western faith and thinking.
Information for participants: a Workshop on Strategic Data Analysis will be held on 29/06/2010, in the same venue. This workshop is organized by the Nodo CESGA of Ingenio MATHEMATICA (i-MATH) project and the Department of Statistics and Operations Research (University of Santiago de Compostela).
The Organizing Committee would like to thank the Sociedade Galega para a Promoción da Estatística e da Investigación de Operacións (SGAPEIO), the Sociedad de Estadística e Investigación Operativa (SEIO), the IAP network and Ingenio MATHEMATICA (i-MATH) for supporting the METMAV.
We are looking forward to seeing you here, enjoying the conference and the city!
